About
Synthia is a recording and production studio in Greenwich Village, NYC. Synthia Studio is a place of creativity, openness, and safety for all who enter. There is no prerequisite of knowledge, experience, or education in order to make music in Synthia. Synthia is a space to try things and express yourself.
Synthia uplifts voices from communities that have been systematically under-resourced and under-valued by the music industry. Our services are accessible and affordable for all. We believe in anti-racism, anti-misogyny, anti-ableism and intersectionality as core tenets of music culture. Synthia is a queer space and we do not tolerate homophobia or transphobia.
Who We Are
Synthia is lovingly run by 3 in-house producers: Miles Francis, Lou Tides and Sarah Galdes.

They have performed with Antibalas, Angelique Kidjo, Sharon Jones, Amber Mark and more, in addition to being a member of Will Butler + Sister Squares and EMEFE. Lou Tides, the artist moniker of Teeny Lieberson (she/her), is from Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 2023, she released her debut visual EP, Infinite Loop. From 2009-2019 she lead the art-pop band TEEN, and she has collaborated closely with Sharon Van Etten, Bartees Strange, Here We Go Magic and more. Health & Accessibility
Synthia is equipped with air conditioning/heat, a HEPA filter, KN95 masks, and hand sanitizer for guests’ use. There is a clean bathroom with menstrual products available for guests if needed. The primary recording studio is one flight downstairs below street level, and unfortunately there is no elevator in the building. Synthia has a ground-floor space used as a lounge & alternate writing/recording studio, with kitchen and bathroom - this space is on street level, but has one step up to enter.
